Engineering prototypes

When the fix needs a box, not just an app.

We prototype the device or the software on your site, then put it into production. Mining, geological, computer, applied-mathematics and applied-physics engineers on the same job.

An electronics prototype on breadboards, wired to a multimeter on a workbench.

The problem

Some problems on a mine site have no product. The workaround becomes part of the operation.

  • No product on the market covers the problem
  • The process runs on a workbook one person keeps alive
  • A vendor project stalled before it reached site

What we do

  • Prototypes of software and hardware for problems no product covers
  • Replace the workbook a process runs on with a web application, on your servers or in the cloud
  • Troubleshoot hard technical problems across software, hardware and data
  • Work that generalises can become a product: CrewCarry began as a commission for West African Resources

How it runs

  1. Diagnostic

    Fixed scope and price.

You get the problem in writing, an acceptance test and a priced next step. All three are yours to keep, even if you stop here.

  2. Prototype

Built on a copy of your data, not on your live systems.

It has to pass the acceptance test from the diagnostic before anything goes to site.

  3. Site deployment

Installed on your network and signed off by your IT.

You get a runbook and two named owners on opposite rotations, so each rotation has an owner.

  4. Support

Once the system is running, support continues on a retainer.

    System-down incidents get a 24/7 response.

  5. Training and handover

Both rotation crews are trained, not only the one on shift at handover.

Training materials are in the site’s language.

Every phase ends in a go/no-go decision.
